ACROSS participates in ETSI TFS/OSL/F5G joint event in Castelldefels, Spain

From 19 to 22 May 2025, the ACROSS project participated in the ETSI TFS Hackfest #7, the ETSI TFS Plenary #7, the ETSI TFS Ecosystem Day #7, and the ETSI OSL Plenary #6, hosted by CTTC in Castelldefels, Barcelona. This co-located event series brought together the TeraFlowSDN (TFS), OpenSlice (OSL), and F5G communities to explore next-generation network orchestration, automation, and zero-touch capabilities across academia, research, and industry.

ACROSS was actively represented by partners UBITECH, CTTC and the University of Patras, contributing to panel discussions, presentations, and demonstrations.

ETSI TFS Hackfest #7

The TFS Hackfest focused on hands-on development around the integration of a Network Slice Controller (NSC) with TeraFlowSDN. UBITECH participated in collaborative technical sessions aimed at validating NSC functionality for L2/L3 VPN slicing and real-time monitoring.

ACROSS aligned its architecture with these efforts, particularly regarding:

  • Support for zero-touch lifecycle automation
  • Secure onboarding of services and devices
  • Integration of orchestration logic into NSC workflows

ETSI TFS Plenary #7

Held at CTTC on 20 May, the plenary session gathered TFS members to discuss the roadmap, governance, and release plans for TeraFlowSDN. While this session was closed to TFS members only, ACROSS partners followed the outcomes to ensure the alignment of ACROSS features with future TFS releases — especially concerning API evolution, telemetry requirements, and SDN controller capabilities.

ETSI TFS Ecosystem Day #7

On 21 May, UBITECH and UoP contributed two presentations and live demos to the TFS Ecosystem Day:

These sessions showcased ACROSS innovations in programmable networking, AI-driven orchestration, and multi-slice deployment across the edge-cloud continuum.

UBITECH also joined a panel discussion focused on co-developing open, intelligent, and energy-aware automation frameworks.

ETSI OSL Plenary #6

ACROSS was represented at the OpenSlice (OSL) Plenary by UBITECH and UoP through:

  • A live demo on service lifecycle automation using Maestro and ETSI OpenSlice
  • Technical contributions aligned with ETSI’s evolving orchestration frameworks

The demo highlighted ACROSS’s capabilities in secure onboarding, SLA-aware orchestration, and integration of telemetry into service adaptation loops.

About the event

The joint ETSI TFS/OSL/F5G event series provides a platform for collaboration between research projects, industry developers, and open-source contributors working on network slicing, SDN-based orchestration, and 5G/6G enablers. With participation from key European stakeholders, the event facilitates the exchange of technical expertise, community engagement, and alignment of innovation with standardisation roadmaps.

ACROSS partners were actively engaged throughout the four days, reinforcing the project’s position at the intersection of open-source orchestration, standardisation, and advanced network research.

We thank the organisers at CTTC and our partners at UBITECH and UoP for their active involvement and contribution to the ACROSS presence throughout the event.
